“This new, exclusive-use camp delivers old-school serenity with an ultra-stylish 21st Century twist”

Overview

A light-footprint tented camp tucked deep within the Masai Mara, Angama Safari Camp combines the romance and adventure of the Golden Age of safaris with a contemporary lightness of spirit that will surprise and delight guests. Enjoy all the comforts of 21st century camping, along with the thrill of having nothing but canvas between you, the Mara and its abundant, year-round wildlife.

With a fresh and uncluttered approach to design, the four ensuite bedroom tents are put together to maximise the light and the views across the bush. Each features an extra-long King-size bed, writing desk, dressing room, vanity, separate lavatory and the playful addition of double bucket showers. Their stylish interiors echo the much-admired looks of the nearby Angama Mara lodge.

Meals are prepared using the freshest ingredients, with menus always tailored to guests’ personal preferences. Whether it’s breakfast under a tree in the wilderness or bitings around the fire as the chef cooks dinner over the coals, the camp’s safari cuisine is always mouthwatering and memorable. Kenyan cocktails and plenty of delicious surprises are delivered with the warmest of smiles.

Angama love to spoil their guests, and a dedicated guide, host, chef, and team of butlers, kitchen staff and askaris are on hand to ensure that every detail is taken care of. Guests can look forward to the same outstandingly warm and personal service that is such a feature of Angama Mara. The team’s charming and professional approach to hospitality means nothing is ever too much trouble.

The World of Angama Safari Camp

Come together to relax in the cosy and charming communal areas with a book and a drink, or enjoy a game of dominos or backgammon. Welcoming leather sofas look onto the elegant dining table and bar, while a shady gazebo is the perfect place for afternoon tea or a family lunch. The spaces are as perfect for two guests as they are for eight, with experiences always personally tailored for guests.

“At Angama Safari Camp, we aim to deliver sophisticated simplicity: waking up to birdsong at sunrise, enjoying drives in a remote corner of the Triangle, relaxing on a red rocker, cooking on the coals, counting the stars and sharing stories around the campfire deep into the night. All with Angama’s signature hospitality, design, and sense of humour.”  Steve Mitchell, CEO and co-founder of Angama

The four exclusive-use camp sites are surrounded by abundant wildlife – including prides of lion, cheetah, leopard, large herds of elephant and buffalo and plenty of plains game. The whole of the Maasai Mara is yours to explore, with exceptional game viewing right from your doorstep. During the Migration Season guests are in the heart of the action among the vast herds of wildebeest and zebra.

With a dedicated safari vehicle and guide, each day’s programme is entirely up to you. From sunrise to after sunset, safari excursions are packed with adventure and variety. Perhaps set off at dawn to watch the sunrise over the Mara River, enjoying a bush breakfast or picnic brunch? Or back to camp for a long, lazy lunch and a siesta? Then sundowner drinks in the savannah? The choices are yours.

Location
Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

Located in South Western Kenya alongside the Tanzanian border, The Masai Mara, together with the adjoining Serengeti National Park, forms one of the world’s most diverse and spectacular eco-systems.

A region characterised by short grass savannah plains interspersed with areas of riverine forest and bordered by towering rocky escarpments, The Mara is home to an incredible abundance and variety of wild animals and is renowned worldwide as Africa’s most exceptional – and loveliest – safari destination.

The Maasai Mara National Reserve covers an area of 1,510 sq. km (580 sq. miles) at altitudes which range from 1500 to 2170 metres above sea level. Home to over 95 species of mammal and 570 recorded species of bird, excellent ‘Big Five’ year-round game viewing is virtually guaranteed.

The area has one of the highest lion densities in world, together with significant populations of cheetah, leopard, elephant and buffalo, and this is where over two million wildebeest, zebra and Thomsons Gazelle migrate annually.
